When loading and unloading cargo, the available hands-free, foot-activated liftgate lets you open up the back of your Explorer while still holding all of your gear.

Performance Specs

The Ford Explorer also offers various powertrain options that let you decide the exact performance you want from your SUV. The three engine options are as follows:

• 2.3L EcoBoost® I-4
• 3.0L EcoBoost® V6
• 3.3L Hybrid

The standard 2.3L EcoBoost® engine creates 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque while also getting an EPA-estimated 21 city/28 highway MPG. More power is generated by the available V6 engine, which produces up to 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque.

It is also matched with the Intelligent 4-wheel drive (4WD) system that provides all-weather, all-terrain performance. Giving you even better efficiency around town from day to day is the available hybrid powertrain. That is because this engine helps the Ford Explorer get up to an EPA-estimated 27 city MPG.
