If you are looking for a new large SUV to take the family around to different activities and appointments throughout Vancouver, Carson, Kalama, Kelso, and LA Center, then the Ford Expedition and Chevy Suburban are probably on your radar.
To see which has the space, performance, and features you want, our Vancouver Ford team looks over the 2021 Ford Expedition vs. Chevy Suburban below. Check out what each SUV offers and find out which is best suited for you and your loved ones!
Space Inside the Expedition vs Suburban
Within both of these SUVs, you'll have a great deal of room to comfortably get situated behind the wheel. What about the space they provide for all your passengers? That is where things start to differ.
The 2021 Expedition has 40 inches of headroom and 62.6 inches of hip room in its second row. The second-row seats of the Suburban however have 38.9 inches of headroom and 61.3 inches of hip room. The third row of the Expedition is more spacious than the Suburban's third row as well.
That is because it has up to 40.9 inches of legroom while the third row of the Chevy SUV has 36.7 inches of legroom. You can also use both SUVs to pack up a variety of gear and supplies, whether you are loading sporting equipment behind all three rows or fold down the back seats to load in furniture.
Expedition vs Suburban: Performance Specs
Both SUVs come with robust engines, which help power them forward even with a car loaded with passengers and cargo. The Chevy Suburban has a 5.3L V8, which generates 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. The Ford Expedition is powered by 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 engine.
This creates 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, which helps it swiftly accelerate up to speed when needed. Even with that power and its size, the 2021 Expedition is still able to get up to 17 city/23 highway MPG. With the Chevy Suburban, at best it achieves 15 city/20 highway MPG.
You can also tow up to 9,300 pounds with the Ford Expedition, which will let you take the RV out for family camping trips. The Chevy Suburban can also tow gear, but only up to 8,300 pounds.
Aiming to Keep You Safe
When it comes to your new family SUV, it is all about making sure you have a ride set to keep you and your loved ones protected. While the 2021 Chevy Suburban has a few standard driver-assistive features, you'll get even more standard systems with the 2021 Expedition.
That includes the Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert, which can help detect and alert you of oncoming cars whether you are backing out of a parking space or looking to change lanes. The Ford Expedition is the only one to come standard with the Lane-Keeping System. If you start to drift, this will send you an alert, so you can quickly get back within the lines of your lane.
